Vancouver's Chinatown is the Western Hemisphere's second largest Chinatown in area (after San Francisco) and third largest in population (after San Francisco and New York City). Mandarin and Cantonese are the mother tongues in 30 per cent of Vancouver homes, which makes Chinese the largest "minority" ethnic group. There are lots of interesting markets with many varieties of fresh and dried seafood, mushrooms, inexpensive houseware and traditional Chinese medicine. Dim sum at one of the many small restaurants is an inexpensive, multi-course culinary adventure. The Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, the ornate Millennium Gate, Chinese Cultural Centre Museum and T&T Market are Chinatown's featured attractions.
